PTA Governance
Lake Avenue PTA is a chapter of the NYS PTA and National PTA. We are a registered 501(c)3 and subject to all applicable state and federal law, and all donations to the PTA are tax deductible. As a mission-driven organization, all our work aims to serve the students, teachers, and families at Lake Avenue elementary school to enhance educational experiences as an advocacy organization. Community building and fundraising are core parts of our work to ensure we work for every child with one voice. As part of the NYS Congress, we are governed by bylaws accepted by our Lake Avenue PTA, hold regular meetings, maintain relevant records and complete an annual 990 form.
School of Excellence
Lake Avenue Elementary has been a National Blue Ribbon School (2022-2027) and a PTA National School of Excellence, each representing the high standards we've held ourselves to, and the goals we have for students. Each comes from strong school-home relationships and communication.
2024-25 is our year to reapply for PTA National School of Excellence. As part of the process, we need a team of individuals excited to strengthen the Lake Avenue community, and we need your participation in a survey and upcoming listening sessions to help us identify areas for improvement and develop a plan to address them.
From the National PTA: The National PTA School of Excellence program is an improvement and recognition program that supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs, families and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. By enrolling in this program, your PTA and school administrators are making a year-long commitment to identify and implement an action plan for school improvement based on National PTA's National Standards for Family-School Partnerships and informed by National PTA’s Center for Family Engagement. At a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner in continuous school improvement."
